The Boleslaw Orliński Primary School no 118 in Wrocław
is pleased to announce the 6th edition of Interschool Pro-Health Competition
“Health can be yummy”
in coordination with
Health and Social Issues Department of the Municipal Council in Wrocław
under the patronage of
Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences
CONTEST OBJECTIVES:
to develop pro-health attitude among students, especially:
- to generate interest in healthy food,
- to promote pro-health education in terms of eating habits; to raise children’s awareness of how to take care of their own health,
- to advance students’ knowledge of healthy food,
- to develop proactive attitude towards their own eating habits, to promote healthy eating habits among students
- to accustom children to solving problem-based tasks and creative thinking,
- to develop versatile talents that children possess and create the environment which stimulates their interests in a creative way,
- to enable students to develop their writing skills,
- to arouse students’ imagination and art sensitivity,
- to accustom students to the use of IT technology,
- to teach students how to compete with each other in a friendly atmosphere,
- to make schools more active in the education process.
RULES OF THE CONTEST
SUBMISSION CATEGORIES (the number of categories depends individually on each school)
1. A spatial work of art: “ Hats full of health”. The spatial work of art should refer to one of the seasons chosen. A technique: paper art techniques. The category is open to 3 age groups: preschool children (who can work together with their parents), children in grades 1-3 and 4-6. Each school is allowed to submit max. 10 pieces of work from each age group.
2. An art work- “Portraits full of vegetables and fruit- an incredible world of Giuseppe Arcimboldo”. Size: A-3 or A-4 page. A technique: cut-out with newspaper pictures of vegetables and fruit. . The category aims at preschool students and students in grades 1-3. Each school is allowed to submit max. 10 works from each age group.
3. A fable ”A friend- Mr Health” max. 1 page A-4 with font size “12”. This category is open to students in grades 4-6. Each school is allowed to submit max. 10 works. The list of the words required in the fable is submitted below: physical activity, milk, yoghurt, an apple, a plum, a pumpkin, a frog, a sunflower, a carrot, a dragon, a tomato, basil, thyme, cinnamon, a well, mountains, a creek, raisins, a bike, glasses, a dream, the sun, a bonfire, water, rollerblades. All the words mentioned above must be in different font colour.
4. A rhyme “ Milk advert”: The advert must be accompanied by an illustration. The rhyme cannot contain more than 4 four-line stanzas. It must be written in font “20”. The category is suitable for children in grades 1-3 and pre-school students (who can work with their parents). Each school is allowed to submit max. 10 pieces of work.
5. A multimedia presentation “My healthy day” on healthy eating habits and healthy leisure (max. 15 slides).This category is aimed at students in grades 4-6. Each school is allowed to submit max.10 pieces of work.
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Each work must be done individually.
- The works must be submitted with a tag attached to the reverse side of the work . The tag must contain the following information: the title of the piece of work, an author’s name and surname and age, a detailed school address with telephone number, the surname of a coordinating teacher. All the information must be written in capital letters.
- The works should be submitted to the school office of the Primary School no 118 in Wroclaw, 54-130 (zip code), Bulwar Ikara 19 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- It is required to accompany the submitted works by a list of works separately for each category, as it is shown below. Schools are also requested to send it via e-mail ekosp118@gmail.com

15th March – deadline for submission to Primary School number 118 in Wrocław
12th April – information on contest results on www.sp118.wroc.pl
CONTEST FINAL CEREMONY
The contest final ceremony with diplomas and awards will take place on 21th May 2013 in the Primary School number 118 at Bulwar Ikara 19 in Wrocław.
Invitations to the winners will be sent via fax or e-mail.
The contest works will be displayed in the main hall of the Primary School number 118 from 10th May 2013 onwards. We kindly inform you that they shall not be returned to the authors.
